Late Bloomers

Maybe I've been reading too much Agatha Christie lately, but the August bloomers remind me of the aristocratic families who don't mind being fashionably late to the Van Dusen party: The proudly erect anise-hyssops, the incorrigible but seductive rudbeckias, the stodgy sedums, the naughty gayfeathers, and the richly jeweled dahlias. What a swell party it is.

"Black Jack" Sedum: Normally I'm not into the weird black and burgundy garden, but I do like this plant.

I fell in love with this mystery flower tucked in behind the meadow.

I like the story that goes with the sunflower forest.
